How it works in class
- Open EraPin on the projector, or drop a class code in your LMS.
- Each round, students study one real photo and its era clues — clothing, technology, architecture, landscape.
- They drop a pin on the world map and guess the year.
- The reveal shows the real place and date, plus a one-line "today I learned" fact to hook the day's lesson.
- Five rounds is a complete opener in about five minutes — or set 15–30 rounds and the same pack becomes the day's full activity.
What it actually teaches
Because the answer is deduced, not recalled, students practise spatial reasoning (absolute and relative location — core to the C3 Framework and most geography standards) and chronological thinking (using material culture as evidence to date a scene). It's the rare warm-up that doubles as a skills drill, and it works for a curious beginner as well as your strongest historian.
